The True Essence of Christmas
“Christmas
is not just a time for festivity and merry making. It is more than that. It is
a time for the contemplation of eternal things. The Christmas spirit is a spirit
of giving and forgiving,” a simple yet so meaningful quote from J. C
Penney.
“It’s
Christmas!” but what is the essence of this? Is it having bountiful and so
delicious foods in our tables? Is it really the true essence of Christmas?
For us
Filipinos, our Christmas starts from the months which end with –ber. We start decorating our houses with
Christmas decor; making our Christmas trees; planning our Christmas Parties;
listing and buying special gifts for our relatives, close friends or best
friend and special someone; caroling. Many say that we, Filipinos are the one who
has the longest celebration of Christmas which is true.
Christmas;
the time to enjoy with family and other relatives, the time to forgive and
forget though it’s too hard, the time to give love, time and anything that
money can’t buy to our love ones and the time to remember the real reason why
we celebrate Christmas, the time to remember the birth of the Only Son, our Savior
Baby Jesus. Christmas is the season of peace, love, joy and good tidings. This celebration reminds
us that we should share, rejoice, love one another, forgive and forget. This is
the true essence of Christmas for me.
