"Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities: Progress For All"

                                       Say YES to Gender Equality, Say NO to Discrimination!

As I surf the internet, a quotation about equal rights for women really caught my heart and attention. This was quoted by Kofi Annan and it goes this way, “…gender equality is critical to the development and peace of every nation.” Speaking of that women’s right, gender equality, etc., the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day Celebration is "Equal rights, equal opportunities: Progress for all."

I remember a woman in a pageant who really stunned and stood out among the rest. During the Question & Answer Portion,  I’m not really sure if it was the host or one of the judges asked the question and the question goes like this, “What is the essence of a woman?” then the lady/contestant said, “Just being a woman is God's gift. The origin of a child is a mother, a woman. She shows a man what sharing, caring, and loving is all about. That is the essence of a woman.” See, woman is a God’s gift. There is an essence of a woman. Women must be treated special also. Gender Equality must ruin our world. Let changes come. Women must have the right to be sent in schools, to do not only household chores but also to run businesses and join the world of politics, the government. Discrimination among women must be cross-out. Let the women go out in their cages and meet freedom. Let the women leave the past and the beliefs that women are just staying at home, doing the household chores, taking good care of their children, no right to run businesses; no right to vote or join politics; no right to finish their studies. Let the men and women be equal not only in rights and opportunities but also be equal in everything because in God’s eye we are all equal.

"Equal rights, equal opportunities: Progress for all,” this theme, this International Women’s Day Celebration emphasizes that women really play important roles not only in our respective society but in the whole world. This emphasizes that equal rights and equal opportunities can lead us to progress, to improvement and to success.

And now, I leave a simple yet meaningful quotation by Shimon Peres, “You know who is against democracy in the Middle East? The husbands. They got used to their way of life. Now, the traditional way of life must change. Everybody must change. If you don't give equal rights to women, you can't progress.”

We Can Stop Climate Change

                     We can’t deny the fact that almost everything changes. Some even say, “Nothing is permanent in this World, except CHANGE.” Nowadays, we are facing big issues such as climate change, one of the Nationwide’s biggest problems.  What is this climate change?

                According to the google Climate Change is a significant and lasting change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns over periods ranging from decades to millions of years. It may be a change in average weather conditions, or in the distribution of weather around the average conditions (i.e., more or fewer extreme weather events). Climate change is caused by factors that include oceanic processes (such as oceanic circulation), variations in solar radiation received by Earth, plate tectonics and volcanic eruptions, and human-induced alterations of the natural world; these latter effects are currently causing global warming, and "climate change" is often used to describe human-specific impacts.

                

           This Climate Change causes a lot of problems that will surely affect all the living creatures in the world. If there’s a problem there are a lot of solutions. So, we can do a lot to prevent the Climate Change. As a student, we can help the nation by simply planting trees, by observing the 3R; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and not burning plastics. Though we are young we can do something to help the Nation prevent the Climate Change.

I AM IV- MARTINELLI

                 That small hole in the needle, you know, that’s the way we encountered before we can get here, in the end of second grading period. It’s really memorable because it seems like it’s the climax of the story of our fourth year life. During these times happened the most beautiful and absolutely the most challenging part so far. Who knows that our dream to go and climb RADAR before will be coming true? I was second year then when our subject teacher in Geometry promised to take us in the RADAR but unfortunately we didn’t go. But our teacher didn’t let this promise as a promise only but he made it possible. It was September 15, 2012 when we climbed RADAR. Actually we didn’t only climbed there just to make or satisfy our teacher’s promise and our dream to go there be possible. But as a matter of fact, we didn’t just learn how to scale and draw the map but we learned also lessons in life. Before we reach the top we must do our best, be patient and be strong enough to face the challenges that may come into our way. Climbing that mountain is not easy but I’m proud I climb the mountain and though there are pains it was all worth it. And because of many projects, l learned to manage my time. During the times that we didn’t ask permission to our teachers and we didn’t do our task in our room, I learned to discipline myself and be responsible enough so that we will not hear any “sermon”.  And to sum it all I learned many things this grading not only in our lessons in the different subject areas but also lessons in life.

            In every day’s life of a human, there’s always a problem that he/she will encounter. As a student, the common problems of the students are my problems too. I’m running out of time in doing so many projects. This was my problem in the first place. Too much individual projects and group projects are really hard to manage especially if I don’t have enough time. But I did all of this because we cooperate during the making of group project and we even sacrifice our time so that we can passed it on time. There were some teachers who scolded us because of our laziness or maybe because of our loud voices or maybe because of being “makulit” or “pasaway” sometimes. But though they say that we are too “pasaway” or too noisy all I can say is because of our closeness so we are acting like that and we are still proud that we are the IV-MARTINELLI. I AM PROUD that I AM IV-MARTINELLI.

            Moving on I will do my best to improve myself. I will apply all i have learned and try my best to not commit the same mistakes before. And I will spend my time with my classmates for the rest of my days here in our school. We will try to change our identification and the impressions of our teacher to us. I will continue my journey to reach our goals in life.

"Upholding English Proficiency for Communicative Competence"

          

          It’s not new to us that almost all of us are not that good or fluent in speaking English especially to us Filipinos because it’s not the language that we are using. However, we are trying our best to speak in English fluently. Actually, this month we are celebrating the English Month with the theme “Upholding English Proficiency for Communicative Competence”.

            English proficiency is the ability to speak, read and/or write in English. This year’s theme in the English Month convinces us to learn and speak in English. We should widen our knowledge and learn this language because this is so important to us. This language is also referred to us as the universal language. We should learn to speak and understand English so that we would be able to communicate with other nationalities wherever we may go. This would be our weapon and even our advantage wherever we may go because this language will be the way why we can communicate and other people will not laugh at us and do some silly things to us because we don’t commit and encounter some difficulties. And if someday if we will go to have our job in other countries as well as in our county, if we will be using this English proficiency for the interviews, we will have potentials to get that job. During our age, we don’t have any jobs yet because we are still young and we need to study first, we can used our abilities in speaking, reading or writing in English in some contests and activities of the English club in connection with the celebration of the English Month. These activities will help us to speak, write and read in English.  We can also   learn and gain knowledge in joining the contest and different activities. Our English proficiency will also enhance and slowly and slowly our English proficiency is becoming better.

            English Proficiency helps us in our daily lives. It will bring us to our goals and ambitions in life. It is indeed a great improvement and achievement when a person has the skill of speaking, writing or even reading in English. As we all know English is our universal language and as we go on later we can encounter other nationalities we can communicate with even without a translator.

"SCIENTRICITY: Energizing Science Clubber for Sustainabl Energy

As we go on the flow of modern world, our lives get even better and better. Now, there are technologies, new inventions like laptop, cellphones, ipods and other gadgets that really help us. And Science has to do with it. As we all know Science is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe. As we welcome the month of September we are also celebrating the Science Month Celebration

          
      “SCIENTRICITY: Energizing Science Clubbers for Sustainable Energy.” This is the theme of the 2012 Science Month Celebration.  SCIENTRICITY is a two-word, the first one is Science and the second is the electricity. Science and the meaning were already mentioned above and the Electricity is the energy due to the motion of electron or changes. Electricity is also one of the most essential inventions in our today’s generation. This aims to introduce to students to sustainable energy and engage them in the call for its responsible use. In line with this celebration, the Science Club is conducting different activities that will surely enhance the ability and not only that these activities are really a great help for the students to sustain energy. In this celebration, the theme wants to make us realize that we must sustain energy or simply conserve energy. Though we are just students by our simple ways we can help in sustaining energy. Yes. We are not Science Club officers but we can do everything that will help the world conserve energy. Science Club officers are the only one who is in-charge in leading the conservation of energy. They are the one who serves as a model. So, for us the rest of students, we must follow the good beginning of the Science club officers in conserving energy.

            As we travel the next generations, many new technologies and inventions will be discover and as we consume or waste energy, we must think first that we need more energy. We may not use it today but we can use it for tomorrow. We must conserve energy!

Teacher: Brings Dreams To Life

There are many definitions of heroes. But I wonder who heroes are? Is the policeman who keeps the peace and order of the community and arrests the criminal people? Is the doctor who cures the sick person and saves the life of his dying patient? Is the fireman who fights and saves the life of person who is in danger? Are they the heroes? But for me, there is great person who made their professions now possible, the person behind their success. The people who are indeed a great hero because they not only brought us to the top of the world but also touch the lives of everyone. They are the people who dedicate their lives to their students. They’re not even tired in touching the lives of everyone and giving their advices and “sermon” and their very best for their students’ success because the success of their students is their success also. They are our loving, caring and ever supportive TEACHERS.

In life, many people may come and go, some will be remembered and some will be forgotten. But I’ll never forget the one who have been touch and became a part of my life. She’s the teacher that really acts our mother. At first, I thought my teacher as well as my hero last months and year will be my forever MY TEACHER, MY HERO but these is suddenly and totally change when I met this teacher who is indeed better and even the best. At first, I’m scared to go to fourth year because the teachers maybe strict and in the way that we can’t talk to each other and have our bonding freely meaning we talk too loud but it’s not. Fourth year life is indeed the best because our teachers specially our adviser. She’s the best adviser ever. She let us do the things we need to do but never tolerates our bad doings. We are noisy; sometimes lazy that we can’t even fixed our things. Sometimes, she never let us fixed that thing if she see that we are busy instead she does the work. For me, she’s not giving “sermons” but advices that will improved our behaviour. In fact, almost all of us she’s our hero because she possesses the attitude of being a hero. I remember the times that if we were in harm, we just tell to her, she not just tells the solution but also do the solution. I remember the times that she treats us just the same and I never feel that she has a favourite in our room. I remember the time that she gave her own for us. I remember the time she cares for our security. I never surprized if they choose her as the MOST LOVED TEACHER because even I feel and believed that she love her students like her own child. She inspires us to attend our classes’ everyday and strive harder to meet our goals in life.

A million thanks to you our adviser I know these thanks are not yet enough. I salute you ma’am for a job well done. You’re my number 1 teacher. I’ll never ever forget you ma’am because you contribute a lot to my future. MY TEACHER, MY HERO! 

A Real Hero: My MOTHER

                Superman, batman, wonder woman and spiderman these are the superheroes who I thought a real hero when I was young. As I grow older, my knowledge also become wider so those things which I believe before was just a silly memories. I put in my mind that those superheroes were not a real one but it’s just an imagination of the writer.

               
         Before, every time they asked who my hero is, I don’t who will I said because I don’t know who is a hero.  But now, I can easily tell who my hero is because now I know who my real hero is. She’s the one who knows the best for me.  In my fifteen years of existence she never let me feel alone instead she’s always there for me and makes my life the best. She carried me for nine months in her womb and she never tried to abort or do something that will make me disappear in this world yet she took good care of me until now. Every now and then she always reminds me of everything which will lead me to the right way. I can see and feel her hardship every time I saw her going home very tired. She always said that everything she does is dedicated for us to survive and for our future. Though she is busy working, she doesn’t forget our bonding time during Sundays and always do her responsibilities and duties. She’s the best mother ever. She’s very caring, loving and responsible mother. Often times, I hear her sermons again and again but afterwards I realize that those sermons are helpful to me and she just keep on reminding me so that I will not commit any mistake that I will regret in the future.

                 
           She’s my one and only mother, my real hero. I will never ever change her in my heart because she’s the most expensive and most precious treasure I ever had. She’s the greatest gift of God and I couldn’t ask for more.

Filipino, Our National Language: be proud!

           

             It was the 30^th day of December, 1937 when the President of the Philippines, Manuel L. Quezon also known as the “Ama ng Wikang Pambansa,” proclaimed that Filipino is the National Language of Filipino people. Every year Filipinos are celebrating the month of the national language during the month of August and in this year’s theme is “Tatag ng Wikang Filipino, Lakas ng Pagka-Filipino.”

                “Ang hindi magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit pa sa hayop at malansang isda,” Dr. Jose P. Rizal said in his poem entitled Sa Aking Mga Kababata. The national hero refers to the Filipino people who are not proud and using the national language. National language helps the nation be united. It also help Filipino people to be able to communicate and understand each other even if they came from the northern part of Luzon and southern part of Mindanao and they would not get an interpreter to translate what they are talking. Sometimes, some Filipino who went country, they adopt the culture even the language of that country and when they come back in the Philippines they would rather speak in other language than Filipino. These people are not respecting and loving the national language instead they are disrespecting it and ashamed of speaking it. Are they true Filipino? They are not loyal in the country they came from and one way of proving it is that they are not speaking and using the national language.

                I salute to those Filipino people who are speaking and using the national language. Filipino should use, love and respect by the Filipino people. Filipino binds us as one nation and this makes Filipinos understand each other. Be proud of our own National Language, Filipino.

Fourth Year High School Journey: Worst or Best?

               I can’t believe it!  I’m now a fourth year student and for the first 2 months or 45 days to be exact in school there are many learning and discoveries that I have learned.  From the ten subject areas namely Trigonometry, Research II, ICT IV, Science (Physics), English IV, MAPEH IV, Analytic Geometry, Filipino IV, Economics IV and Values Education IV, many discoveries and lessons. I didn’t only learned lessons like sine, cosine or how to make thesis or how to use this blogs or any else related to our subjects I also learn to grow up meaning mature enough, to depend myself and my principles in life and to be independent.

         In everyday I go to school there were many problems I encountered not only me but also my classmates. We have less assignment but lot of projects and we just have less days and we don’t have enough time to make it. We don’t have vacant time during school and it’s too late if we will make it after our class. Its better if these projects were individual projects but it’s not this were group projects and these projects were too hard to make. I also encountered problems like sometimes I don’t understand some lesson because there are teacher who are very fast in teaching.

           

             Like what our teachers usually say when we are complaining of many projects, “Comply first before complain” or “You choose to be a Special Math Class so you must face all the challenges and difficulties and prove that you deserve to stay here.” We must do all those projects so that we’ll stay in Special Math Class. Though there were many projects we did it. We didn’t give up and passed all those requirements. We went to school every Saturdays and even Sundays in order to finish our projects. To the lessons that I didn’t really understand I always asked my classmates who understand help so that I can understand it.

              

            Moving on, I will make my journey in fourth year the best among the rest. I’ll enjoy the days with my classmates because sooner we’ll leave our Alma Mater and we’ll not see each other everyday. I’ll study hard and make my parents be proud of me.
